13 DIYS of Halloween: Blood Jello Shots

I hope you don’t mind. We’re kicking this 13 DIYS of Halloween off with some alcohol!

You can check the video for instructions on how I made these jello shots, but I will also include a recipe below. Enjoy!

Strawberry “Boobs and Blood Bag” Jello shots

1 Package Strawberry (or any red flavor) Jello

1 cup boiling water

1/2-3/4 cup Vodka, chilled

1/4-1/2 cup Juice *optional

Red food coloring

Plastic cups/syringes/blood bags for jello

Coconut oil

How To:

Empty 1 package of jello in a bowl. I used less than the entire package, so that the jello might be a little easier to “shoot.”

Add 1 cup of boiling water and mix until gelatin is dissolved.

Add vodka and juice/water, which adds up to a total of 1 cup of cold liquid. I added about 3/4 cup vodka and for the remaining 1/4 cup I used cranberry apple juice, but you could just use water.

Add red food coloring to your liking and stir until well dissolved.

At this point if you do not want to use syringes, you could use plastic cups for jello shots or even a glass pan like for making normal jello. BUT where’s the fun in that?!

Using Syringes:

Take the plunger out of the syringe and wipe coconut oil on the rubber part. This will help for when it is time to “take” the jello shots. You could also use a non stick cooking spray. I just liked the taste and ease of using coconut oil the best.

Insert the plunger back into the syringe. With the syringe in the bowl of jello, empty all air our of the syringe and then pull back to fill your jello shot. Repeat for all desired syringes.

Finally chill your jello shots in the fridge until it sets. I let mine set overnight, and they were still good a few days after.

Take your jello shot and share your results with me!!
